L&Z crank can be made from a few different materials:

● Cast ductile and nodular iron. Cast iron (not steel) is the most common among stock cranks, but they are prone to failure in high-powered applications.However, while cast iron by itself tends to be a brittle metal, we offer land rover TDV6 cast cranks with a mixture of alloy element that allows for more impact and fatigue resistance, which performs good in engines. This is also an affordable option for our customers.


● With forged alloys, such as 1045 carbon steel stock cranks and 5140 and 4340 chrome-moly cranks, overall strength is increased drastically. The most common in the high-performance world is 4340 chrome-moly and is considered strongest because of the nickel and chrome content. Forged is suitable for those models with high volume, as its high die fee. Such as Chevy series...


● At the highest level, what you'd see in most heads-up race cars and wild power adder applications, is billet 4340 steel, which is considered to be the strongest and most expensive, but no die fee with lowest order quantity. Our billet cranks are literally carved by CNC machine from a solid chunk of steel, with process: underline,rough turn main journal then rod journal,making oil hole,heat treatment, fine grinding,fine turning, balancing, nitriding, polishing.
